The first group of pictures came from the show before the title was changed and Pam's character was reworked.  The show title was changed from Earthlings to The L Word.  Initially, Pam was set to play a more butch lesbian, who was a mentor to a younger group of lesbians.  Her character was to be a documentary film-maker who sported a huge tattoo on her back which was like a road map of her life.  I can't say that I necessarily disagree with the people in charge when it comes to the loss of the hat (which was to signify her mentor status), but it sounded like an interesting character.  Pam must be relieved not to have to hit the make-up chair at 3 a.m. in order to have that tattoo done daily.

 
PAM GRIER AS HER CHARACTER WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN WHEN THE SHOW WAS STILL CALLED "EARTHLINGS".

The pictures below are from the newer version of the show, now titled "The L Word".  Pam's character has changed from the original.  Her character is named Kit Porter and she is the half-sister of Bette Porter, played by Jennifer Beals.  Kit is a recovering alcoholic and musician who owns a club.   She is also heterosexual now in the series.  From what various magazines have been reporting, Pam's role on the show is going to be excellent, and we will have the opportunity to sing on the show.
